Fight Club: First Rule of QA is Everyone Talks About QA
Picture this: You're working on a project with four independent teams spread across the globe. They're all working on the same platform that hosts the client's live website, with new sites and language versions in the pipeline. Each team handles their own workstream, but there are two major issues - communication is poor, so teams don't understand one another's work, and no one's overseeing quality at the program level. This leads to problems during releases and production deployments, and everyone's getting increasingly frustrated.
You try to address these issues and suggest improvements, but you hit a wall with the PO who's supposed to keep everything running smoothly but they're either unable or unwilling to manage quality across the program. Their attitude is basically "the teams deliver their work (more or less), so why change anything?" You're left with a tough choice: take initiative while being transparent about your actions, or wait and watch - either until things get worse or the whole project falls apart.
Radek takes you behind the scenes of a high-stakes international project at VML. He'll walk you through the challenges like:
- communication breakdowns between teams
- lack of leadership and program-level quality management
- growing frustration with every release and production deployment
- Product Owner's resistance to process changes
- testing cycles getting longer and longer.
You will also learn how Radek and his team turned things around by:
- building a a rockstar team that crushed seemingly impossible challenges
- making small but powerful changes that added up
- taking their regression testing to the next level with automation and AI
- expanding the team's impact without expanding its size.
You'll hear how they not only saved the project but also won over the Product Owner, demonstrated their value to the client, and ultimately secured their trust and additional business. This isn't just a story about leadership, professional integrity, and taking responsibility - it's about how taking calculated risks can sometimes lead to unexpected rewards.

Radek Lawgmin, VML ES
As a Senior QA Lead and consultant at VML, Radek drives testing strategy and ensures products hit the mark on both industry standards and best practices.
With over two decades in tech, he's worn many hats across international projects - including 12 years deep in Adobe Experience Manager for biggest names in the business. He even served as Product Owner for AET, an open-source visual testing framework. Before that, he jumped into the e-learning world, where he did everything from designing solutions and consulting to managing projects.
His sweet spot? Making testing both efficient and effective while streamlining processes.
When he's not fine-tuning quality processes, you'll find him sharing insights at international QA conferences, particularly about visual testing and optimizing regression testing in CI/CD pipelines.
